Jewel Hendrix Smith
March 14, 1923 - September 21, 2010
Savannah – Jewel Hendrix Smith, age 87, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Savannah. The Bulloch County native graduated from Georgia Southern College with a degree in Early Elementary Education. Mrs. Smith retired from Savannah High School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple and a volunteer at Calvary Day School.
Surviving are a son, Fred A. Hill of Savannah; two daughters, Julie H. DeLoach of Savannah and Lynn Goodman of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Carroll Hendrix of Statesboro; two sisters, Barbara Martin of Statesboro and Mary Hilda Clark of Fleming; five grandchildren, Jessica J. Hunter, Bonnie J. Mulinaro, Reneé Hill, Stephanie J. Scheidt and Bobby DeLoach and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday in the John Wilder Chapel at Calvary Baptist Temple. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Remembrances may be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at Calvary Baptist Temple or Calvary Day School Scholarship Fund, 4625 Waters Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
